Preface: Visiting Seoul and Jeju for the second time, it was only natural that our focus revolved around food, and ‘some’ shoppings 😆 Featuring on this trip: Mai 🇻🇳, Justine🇳🇿, Dasom🇰🇷, Hayley🇳🇿 & Guest appearances: Seoul-based Mariana🇺🇸 and Jeju meow-friend 🐈. We’ll begin in retro Seoul with plenty of foodie stops, before heading to seaside Jeju with its own exquisite delicacies!

Let’s start with a preview:

Nostalgia is certainly the new trend in town. An odd sense of longing began to stir as I wandered through the Y2K version of Seoul, living my own Back to the Future moment.

A couple of steps through Gyeongbokgung took us back a few more centuries – to the Joseon era.

“When life gets tough, come to Jeju,” proclaimed a character in the Korean series Our Blues. There’s something about the inky horizon here, of gentle breeze and quietness, that slowly weaves us into the island’s rhythm as a new day begins.

“Jeju is my happy place!” – my friend declared with a big smile.

Beyond the idling wave lies the bustling market – a fantastic spot for food exploration. For the adventurous, try the sea pineapple 🍍

Waiting for us at the accommodation was a Ginger – a friendly local girl with the playfulness of a little tiger (i.e., she loves to play, sometimes rough!). She came to see us off on our last day, sitting in the rain on the same spot where we first met. 🥹

Under the full moon is the occasion for BBQ marshmallow 🔥 For Ginger: ungrilled feline biscuit treats 😉
